Welcome

Congratulations on taking a first courageous step towards the goal of a healthier you!

I appreciate your interest in my practice. Are you feeling anxious, confused, exhausted or overwhelmed; or perhaps discouraged, sad or unworthy? Does your life feel out of control, meaningless, painful or stuck? These are but a few of the feelings we struggle to manage at times. If you are looking for extra support through a challenging situation or you are just ready to move in a new direction, I would welcome working with you.

My goal is to help you move towards healing and wholeness in a compassionate and life-affirming way. While we cannot change the past, we can work towards an awareness that will encourage you to meet the challenges of your present, healthily and with compassion. We can together unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative beliefs that may be holding you back or keeping you stuck. You can learn to move from a place of harmful or hurtful reaction to that of a calm and compassionate response. We can develop a tool box of coping skills and techniques that will allow you to feel empowered, whatever comes your way.

I would feel honored to provide you a safe and confidential space within which you can feel heard and grow. As a compassionate, nonjudgemental, and trustworthy companion, I will join you on your journey. As a counselor, I am attentive to your past hurts, present realities, and future possibilities. Together we can clarify your specific goals and navigate your path towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Courage to begin and commitment to the journey are your first steps. Therapy is full of challenges and joyful surprises, and, as in life, it is in the participation of it that you can fully experience its gifts!

My office is located in a picturesque and serene setting in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to regular daytime hours I am available for lunchtime and early evening appointments.

Call (404.919.2355) or email (Kimewoodard@kimwoodardcounseling.com) for a therapy appointment today. I look forward to hearing from you.

Bio

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia (www.sos.ga.gov/plb/) with over 18 years of experience. I am also a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider. My office is located in Atlanta. Prior to going into private practice, I was a Satellite Center Director and Staff counselor for the Care and Counseling Center of Georgia. From my experiences and training, I bring an inclusive spiritual awareness, as well as an ever present recognition of the importance of compassion for ourselves and others.

My path to the counseling profession took a circuitous route through advisory and leadership positions in literacy and libraries throughout the US and in Europe. The common denominator has always been a connection to people and their unique stories. My personal life joins my professional journey in a love for connection, history, nature, reading and travel.

My training in a variety of counseling techniques allows me to adapt to the uniqueness of you, the client. I provide both short and long term therapy, according to the needs of your particular situation. I feel honored to serve adults from all cultural, racial, religious/spiritual, sexual orientation and socioeconomic groups. My goal as a therapist is to provide you a compassionate, confidential and safe environment, within which you can make your journey.

I appreciate your interest in my work. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
